KDKA-TV leads the western region with 30 nominations

PHILADELPHIA – In simultaneous announcement parties that took place in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Bethlehem, officials from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Award Nominations. Announcement events were held at The Fieldhouse in Philadelphia, WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, The Public Media Center at WITF in Harrisburg and WLVT PBS39 in Bethlehem. The awards honor excellence in television news, programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
This year, the Chapter received 881 entries in 80 Emmy® categories, of which 335 entries received nominations. Mid-Atlantic Emmy® judging is completed by regional NATAS Chapters in comparable television markets across the country. All entries in a given category are judged by TV industry professionals with expertise in that category, and the judges apply personal standards of excellence to evaluate each entry in areas of content, creativity and execution.
“On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter Board of Governors, I want to congratulate all of this year’s regional Emmy award nominees. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter is very talented and therefor it is no surprise we received dozens more entries that last year – a testimony to the passion our members have for their craft,” said NATAS Mid-Atlantic Chapter President Eric Heisler, Director of Media Relations at Bravo Group. “Thank you to everyone who submitted and continues to support our chapter. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our talented peers at the 37th Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards.”
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter also received 72 entries for the College Production Awards, of which 32 received nominations in eight categories. The goal of the college awards program is to incentivize students to> pursue excellence in their study of media and journalism. The College Production Awards focus public attention on outstanding > cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational > achievements by undergraduate college students. A crystal pillar is awarded to the school for each winning entry and students named on the entries each receive a certificate.
Regional television professionals will gather to celebrate the 37th Annual Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Wyndham Grand Downtown in Pittsburgh, PA. Festivities will include a cocktail hour, a sit-down dinner and the award presentations.
