All standing committees report to the Board and present committee reports at board meetings as needed.
Emmy Awards Committee:
The Awards Committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the awards process, including but not limited to, the Call for Entries, accepting and processing entries, helping to secure judges when needed, resolving issues relating to entries and nominees, overseeing the curve cut process with the accounting firm and working with the Executive Director and production company to ensure a successful show. The committee meets as needed.
Emmy Show Production Committee:
The Production Committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Awards Show, including, but not limited to, the location, set design, lighting, room set up, script, recorded inserts and overall banquet execution.
Scholarship Committee:
The Scholarship Committee is responsible for the creation, design and implementation of programs and relationships that will enhance the Academy’s goal of educational leadership as outlined in the NATAS bylaws. These programs may include:
- Student TV
- Career Days
- Auction / Fundraising
- Any other educational programs the committee feels would benefit students
The committee also helps to secure judges for the student competition and works with the Executive Director on outreach to schools and awarding scholarships.
Student TV Committee:
The Student TV Committee is responsible for overseeing the High School and College Student Production Awards Call for Entries and judging. The committee meets to determine the best categories and assist the Executive Director in getting people to help judge the student competitions. The committee is also responsible for determining the Young Producer’s Award as well as overseeing the high school awards presentation (college awards are presented at the Emmy ceremony).
Membership Committee:
The Membership Committee is responsible for overseeing the membership of the chapter. This includes membership renewals, member benefits and regional outreach to increase membership both inside and outside the television industry. The Membership list shall not be made available to any person or organization outside of NATAS unless approved by the Chapter Executive Committee. The committee is also responsible for working with the Executive Director for recruitment ideas and encouraging others in the Mid-Atlantic Region to join the Academy.
Nominating Committee:
The Nominating Committee is responsible for soliciting candidates for the Board’s annual election. The committee presents a list of up to 12 names for approval to the Board at the monthly Board of Governors’ meeting in April.
Social Media Committee:
The Social Media Committee is responsible for working with the Executive Director to ensure the Mid-Atlantic Chapter is well known on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, SnapChat, etc.). The committee develops an annual schedule for keeping members informed of chapter events, deadlines, rules, and other important information. During high interest times, the committee will develop a schedule to ensure that the social media accounts are being updated on a daily basis.
