2017 Board Election Candidates

Jayne Anne Bugda, WBRE
Jayne Ann Bugda is a proud member of the Eyewitness News Team (WBRE/WYOU) for 32 years.  Jayne Ann is the Senior News Producer, Web Producer for PAHomepage.com and Host/Producer of the public affairs program, Newsmakers.   She is the producer of Eyewitness News at Seven and oversees the news content on PAHomepage as the web producer.   She also serves as the documentary producer for WBRE/WYOU.   Over the years Jayne Ann has won a number of Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasting Awards for Outstanding Public Affairs programs and documentaries.  Jayne Anne graduated from King’s College and serves on several boards of community and civic organizations in NEPA, including two years as a Governor for the National Academy of Arts  and Sciences Mid-Atlantic Emmy Chapter.

Casey Feeney, Comcast SportsNet
Casey Feeney is the Senior Coordinating Producer for CSN Philadelphia. Having spent the last 11 years at CSN, Casey currently supervises all aspects of pre and postgame coverage for the Flyers, Phillies and 76ers. He has also served as lead producer for the Phillies’ playoff run between 2008 and 2011. A 3-time Emmy award winner, Casey has also served on the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Board of Governors for the last two years.

Jeff Hughes, WPSU
Jeffrey A. Hughes has more than 28 years of industry experience. Local stories, documentary, performing arts, sports production and mentoring developing talent have been his focus over the past few years. Currently the Director of Broadcasting at PBS station WPSU, he is the winner of three Mid-Atlantic Emmy awards and was one of six people inducted into the inaugural class of the 2014 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle. His work has also earned the Cine Golden Eagle Award, Telly Awards and the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award of Excellence.

Corey Martin, KDKA
Corey Martin has worked in television news for 17 years. He is currently the Managing Editor at KDKA-TV and has held that position since January 2015. In that role, he primarily serves as the manager of the station’s special projects unit. Prior to that, Corey was a Senior Producer at KDKA, producing the station’s 5pm news for 9 years. Before coming to KDKA in 2006, Corey was a producer at WPGH, the Fox affiliate in Pittsburgh and WBOY, the NBC affiliate in Clarksburg, WV. He is a graduate of The Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Dan Maddox, WGAL
Dan is the Chief photographer at WGAL.  He is responsible for overseeing the photography staff and special projects.

Leo McCafferty, Pittsburgh Penguins
Leo is the head of marketing with the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He learned about sports television while at NFL Films and took his talents back home to Pittsburgh to work for the Penguins in 2010. He is an EMMY recipient and has served on the Board of Governors at Regional Vice President for the past year.

Laura McHugh, WLVT
Laura has served on the Board of Governors working with our students and members for two years. She is an Executive Producer at WLVT PBS39 in Bethlehem.

Nick Matoney, WTAE-TV
Nicolas Matoney is an Executive Producer at WTAE in Pittsburgh where he was worked since 2006. Prior to WTAE, Nicolas was an executive producer at WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Nicolas is a 2005 graduate of Point Park University where he earned a B.A. in Broadcasting.

Karen Smyles, WHYY
Karen Smyles is a television producer at WHYY, where she has produced numerous award-winning programs during her 15 years there. Currently she is a producer for Friday Arts, which has earned several Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards. Prior to WHYY, she worked at NJN and Comcast, as both producer and host of several programs.

Karen Thomas, Neumann University
Karen Thomas has worked in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter for over 25 years.  She worked as an anchor/reporter at WHTM-TV before moving to FOX29 in Philadelphia.  She was a reporter and anchor for several years before going back to school for her degree in Broadcast Meteorology.  She was the weekend weather anchor at FOX29 before moving over to NBC10.  She has also been an on air guest host for QVC in West Chester.  For the past 6 years, Karen has been full time faculty at Neumann University, taking a sabbatical to plan the “World Meeting of Families” with the Archdiocese in 2015.  She helped start the Mullen Media Center at Neumann University where she educates some of the next generation of broadcasters.
