2015 MID-ATLANTIC EMMY® NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED
Comcast SportsNet leads the chapter with 31 nominations

PHILADELPHIA – In simultaneous announcement parties that took place in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, officials from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Award Nominations. Events were held at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, WVIA-TV in Pittston (Luzerne County), and at The Public Media Center at WITF-TV in Harrisburg. The awards honor excellence in television news, programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

This year, the Chapter received 836 entries in 78 categories and 294 entries received nominations. Mid-Atlantic Emmy® judging is completed by regional NATAS Chapters in comparable television markets across the country. All entries in a given category are judged by TV industry professionals with expertise in that category, and the judges apply personal standards of excellence to evaluate each entry in areas of content, creativity and execution.

“As we prepare to mark the 33rd year for the Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards, we are thrilled to see continued growth of the chapter and participation among members,” said NATAS Chapter President Michelle Bradsher, Director of Marketing and Communications at Melmark. “Once again, we have received a record number of entries which represents a six percent increase since last year. We are pleased to celebrate the work from the diverse talent from our chapter membership across the region in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.”

The Chapter also received 69 entries for the college production awards, of which 24 received nominations in eight categories. The college production awards are intended to be an incentive for the > continued pursuit of excellence by those studying media and journalism and to focus public attention on outstanding > cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational > achievements by undergraduate college students. A crystal pillar is awarded to the school for each winning entry and students named on the entries will each receive a certificate.
